He also brings nearly 40 years of operations expertise with him. Before his role as COO, Dunn served as managing director of Compass Minerals’ U.K. operations, including Winsford mine and DeepStore records management. Dunn first joined Compass Minerals in 2007 as mine manager. Prior to joining Compass Minerals, he spent over 25 years in the gas and energy industry.

Dunn succeeds George J. Schuller Jr. who had served as the company’s COO since September 2019. Schuller has left Compass Minerals, according to the release.

Dunn earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hull and a Bachelor of Science in mining and mining engineering from Nottingham Trent University.

In January, the company announced Edward C. Dowling Jr. as the next chief executive officer and succeeded Kevin Crutchfield. The company also named Jeffrey Cathey as its new chief accounting officer in December.
