Clay, Cass counties in the Top 10 for highest income in Missouri

A recent study identified counties in Missouri with the most favorable cost of living, a top 10 ranking showing that half of the counties fall within the Kansas City region, Clay and Cass counties making top five for highest income in the state.

A handful of counties in the Kansas City region have been identified as places with the most favorable cost of living, a recent study by SmartAsset showing the top 10 counties in Missouri that have it the best in this category.

Among the study’s findings, Clay and Cass counties popped up in the top five for counties with the highest income in the state.

Cost of living was just one factor in the study conducted by SmartAsset measuring places in Missouri with the most purchasing power.

Results of the study appear on an interactive map highlighting places in the state and U.S. with the best cost of living.

The study aimed to find places where average living expenses are most affordable to the people who live there by looking at the cost of living relative to income and from there determining purchasing power in each county, SmartAsset said.

Clay County ranked third, showing a calculated Cost of Living at $39,570, a Median Income of $65,675 and a Median Income Index of 42.07.

Cass County ranked right behind in fourth, showing a calculated Cost of Living at $39,603, a Median Income of $65,352 and a Median Income Index of 41.78.
