Cerner, Finland officials collaborate on health services digital system

Kansas City-based Cerner has partnered with Finland regional officials to help develop a joint health and social services digital system to provide access to integrated healthcare for individuals and families.

A new digital platform is in the works due to a recently announced partnership between Kansas City-based health-tech supplier Cerner and Finland officials.

The partnership between the two was created to help build a new digital platform that will combine healthcare and social services.

Design plans for the digital platform aim to provide individuals and families with access to a single, digital platform for healthcare and family services which includes integrated outpatient and inpatient care, behavioral healthcare and family services.

Cerner is now working with Aster, a co-operational organization across four of Finland’s 19 regions, according to a Cerner news release. Aster’s goal is to make data and information more transparent between healthcare and social organizations and increase access to population health data through a single system.

Although the new platform will not come to fruition quickly, a large number of healthcare workers are participating, approximately 15,000 clinicians and 10,000 social service workers, according to the release.

The project is comprised of two phases, the first phase to last one year for project development and planning, and the second phase to include implementing the new platform.
