Cerner announces two executive role replacements

Two internal candidates, Travis Dalton and Dan Devers, have been selected to fill the roles of Chief Client and Services Officer, and Chief Legal Officer, respectively. The announcement follows news of other executive turnover at Cerner including the upcoming departure of CFO Marc Naughton.

Cerner Corp. announced two important changes among its list of top executives, two longtime leaders to be succeeded by internal candidates.

Travis Dalton, who has led Cerner Government Services, is the company’s new chief client and services officer, effective Friday. He assumes the post that John Peterzalek previously held.

Dan Devers, who has overseen the company’s growing cloud strategy, now is Cerner’s chief legal officer. He succeeds Randy Sims.

CEO Brent Shafer announced the changes to Cerner employees Friday. In a message to associates, he thanked Peterzalek and Sims for their years with the company and referred to the moves as “important internal succession appointments.”

Dalton will oversee operations related to sales, client management and marketing in his new position. Dalton joined the company in 2001 and has had leadership roles in sales, finance and consulting, according to a company bio. As head of government services — a role he’ll retain — he led Cerner’s efforts to bring new electronic health records systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Devers joined Cerner in 2002 as corporate counsel and established the company’s patent program. He also recently led negotiations that led to Cerner naming Amazon Web Services as its preferred cloud provider in 2019.
