Broadband expansion initiative to deliver $248M to KC area, Mo.

A multiyear initiative to expand broadband availability will reach communities across Missouri including counties in the Kansas City area. An investment of $248 million has been made to deliver broadband to 61,000 businesses and homes in Jackson, Clay, Cass and Lafayette counties.

A state-wide broadband initiative in Missouri will pour $248 million to achieve broadband expansion to communities across the state, including counties that make up the Kansas City, Mo. region.

The multiyear initiative to expand broadband availability aims to reach 61,000 businesses and homes in communities in Caldwell, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Henry, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis, Platte and Ray counties.

This project represents a significant statewide investment ($248 million) – more than $200 million in private Charter investment and $48 million in support won by Charter in the FCC’s Rural Digital Opportunity (RDOF) auction.

The effort is part of the company’s recently announced expected investment of approximately $5 billion — offset by $1.2 billion in RDOF support — to expand Charter’s network to what the FCC estimates to be more than 1 million homes and small businesses in lower-density, mostly rural communities across 24 states that do not have access to broadband service of at least 25/3 Mbps.
