Overland Park-based Black & Veatch has proposed plans to expand its headquarters building at its Overland Park campus as part of a $1.12 billion redevelopment.
The project is a mixed-use redevelopment located at the Black & Veatch world headquarters near the intersection of Lamar and 115th Street. The proposed redevelopment includes a new headquarters building of over 612,000 square feet, and a total proposed office space of approximately 994,000 square feet; 1,884 residential units in a mix of multi-family, townhomes and condominiums; 550,000 square feet of retail space; a 160-room hotel and over 5900 structured parking spaces.

The project has been dubbed Overland Park Plaza II. The company has also filed a tax increment financing (TIF) application for sales tax exemptions on the project’s construction costs. If approved, the TIF would create a Community Improvement District (CID) for a 2% add-on sales tax on the property. The total amount of requested TIF funding is $227.7 million and CID funding is $19.9 million.
Construction could begin as soon as 2026, according to the company’s TIF application.
The project is scheduled for review on Wednesday by the Overland Park Finance, Administration and Economic Development Committee.
Founded in 1915, Black & Veatch has more than 12,000 employees in more than 100 offices worldwide, and approximately 2,200 employees in Overland Park.
