BJC Health System Recognized in Over 80 Clinical Excellence Categories



BJC Health System has received 86 recognitions for clinical excellence by U.S. News & World Report.

St. Louis-based BJC Health System, which recently integrated Saint Luke’s Health System, has received 86 recognitions, including national recognition in 11 specialties from one of its hospitals.

In January, Saint Luke’s Health System and BJC Health System of St. Louis officially integrated, uniting both systems in a deal valued at over $15 billion.

BJC Health System has received 86 recognitions from the U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital ranked No. 1 in the St. Louis metro area and No. 1 in Missouri; Missouri Baptist Medical Center is tied for No. 2 in both categories and Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City and Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit ranked in the top three hospitals in Kansas City.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital hospital also ranked nationally in 11 of 14 specialties including:

  • cancer
  • cardiology, heart & vascular surgery
  • diabetes & endocrinology
  • ear, nose & throat
  • gastroenterology & gastrointestinal surgery
  • geriatrics
  • neurology & neurosurgery
  • obstetrics & gynecology
  • orthopedics
  • pulmonology & lung surgery
  • urology

Another hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center was recognized in four categories including:

  • gastroenterology & gastrointestinal surgery
  • geriatrics
  • neurology & neurosurgery
  • urology

Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City was recognized as high-performing in three specialties:

  • cardiology, heart & vascular surgery
  • gastroenterology & gastrointestinal surgery
  • neurology & neurosurgery
