Big merger prepares to turn Sprint Center pink after T-Mobile purchase

Kansas City’s Sprint Center is changing its name to the T-Mobile Center after a major merger and locals can expect to see new signage in August.

A name change is in the near future for the Sprint Center, as well as a change in color.

On Thursday T-Mobile revealed details for the T-Mobile Center, known currently as the Sprint Center.

“I couldn’t be prouder to announce T-Mobile Center and show the Kansas City community that we’re deeply invested in the home of our second headquarters! T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said. “Kansas City has a rich culture, known for live entertainment, sports, a thriving arts scene and my personal favorite, Kansas City barbecue, and we are honored to help bring it all to life in T-Mobile Center well into the next decade!”

Due to delays from the presence of COVID-19, T-Mobile said when it can safely welcome guests back, everyone will have free Wi-Fi in the building, T-Mobile customers will get a fast pass entry and the company expects to announce more benefits in the future, reports KMBC 9 News.

Officials with the company have said that Kansas City can expect changes over the next few months, the new name taking place with new signage in August and a change from yellow to pink.

“We’re thrilled to team up with one of the world’s most innovative and fan-focused partners in T-Mobile to offer amazing entertainment experiences in Kansas City,” said Bob Newman, president and CEO of ASM Global. “As the anchor of a vibrant entertainment district, T-Mobile Center will welcome guests from throughout the world for the best of live entertainment, family and sporting events.”
