Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Incorporated, two big-names retailers catering to lovers of the outdoors, have announced a definitive agreement in which Bass Pro will acquire Cabela’s for $65.50 per share in cash; the total deal is valued at approximately $5.5 billion.
Bass Pro, with a primary focus on fishing, currently operates 99 stores mostly in the eastern part of the U.S. and Canada, including its Tracker Marine Centers for the boating market. Cabela’s, largely a store for hunters, has 85 stores mostly in the western U.S. and Canada.
