AMC hopes to reopen in July

Amid bankruptcy rumors, the theatre giant hopes to reopen its doors in July.

After a months-long closure of AMC theatre locations across the nation, the world’s largest theatre operator plans to reopen in July.

AMC announced its plan to reopen the cinemas in July after posting a staggering financial loss, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. AMC’s CEO Adam Aron said that he expects 97 percent of the company’s US locations to reopen by next month, after AMC was forced to close theaters in March as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to an article by The Verge.

ACM relies entirely on public gatherings to make its money, posting a $2.2 billion net loss in the first quarter of the year. It very little revenue in last two weeks of March, reported The Wall Street Journal.

Although previously frequent movie-goers may have gotten used to the comfort of watching movies from their own home, AMC hopes that the release of highly anticipated movies will see returning customers.
