Amazon Looking at AMC Buy?

AMC Theatres, which has been closed and reportedly facing bankruptcy during the COVID-19 pandemic, might look like a good bet for one of the world’s biggest companies.

A report came out recently that Amazon is looking to acquire the Overland Park-based cinema chain, which has made the latter’s stock skyrocket.

The U.K.’s Daily Mail newspaper first reported the potential acquisition, as AMC owns the Odeon chain in Britain. If there is such an acquisition, it comes at time when Amazon has increased its own film and television content for its streaming services.

There has been speculation in the past Amazon could get into the theater business. In 2018 there was speculation that the e-commerce giant was eyeing Landmark Theatres.
