Kansas City-based real estate development company, Sallee Development, announced that Spencer Yohn has been promoted to chief operating officer.

In his new role as COO, Yohn—an Overland Park native—will oversee development, construction, and property management operations across the company in his new role. He brings more than 15 years of industry experience to the role, having most recently served as vice president of operations for Sallee since 2024, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In his time with Sallee, Yohn has overseen site selection and due diligence to financial evaluation, product selection, and vertical construction, as well as worked closely with the company’s third-party property management team.

“I’m honored to step into the role of Chief Operating Officer,” Yohn said in a release. “Sallee has built a strong reputation in Kansas City, and I look forward to continuing to support our team as we deliver exceptional communities.”

Yohn first joined Sallee in 2023 as director of operations. Before joining the company, he previously served in several leadership roles at Lee’s Summit-based Summit Custom Homes for over 9.5 years.

Yohn has helped construct more than 3,000 homes across the Kansas City metro area. He earned his degree in Construction Management from Pittsburg State University.

“Spencer has been instrumental in strengthening our operational platform and driving growth across our portfolio,” Tyler Sallee, CEO and Owner of Sallee, said in the release. “His leadership, industry knowledge, and commitment to quality make him exceptionally well-suited to serve as Chief Operating Officer as we continue expanding our footprint.”

Sallee was founded in 1989 and is a full-service real estate development company that specializes in single-family and multifamily build-for-rent communities, including an investment portfolio of industrial and flex-use properties. Sallee operates in nine states in the Midwest.
