Swope Health announced Sonja Bachus has returned to the health center as chief operations officer.
Bachus began her role as COO effective March 30, according to a release. She previously worked at Swope Health as a service line administrator for nearly 9 years before departing in 2011. As COO, she will oversee key departments at Swope, including strategy, capital projects, practice management, call center operations, facilities, transportation, and outreach, as well as several other company functions.
With more than 20 years of experience, Bachus has a lifelong career in healthcare. Most recently, she served as chief experience officer for the National Association of Community Health Centers. Her other leadership roles include CEO for Community Care Network of Kansas, CEO of Maryland-based Greater Baden Medical Services and COO of Indianapolis-based HealthNet, Inc.
Accompanying Bachus’ return, Swope Health also made two notable leadership promotions in its release. Brandi Finocchario, who joined Swope Health as chief strategy officer in 2024, is now the chief performance officer.

These leadership changes outline a trajectory for Swope Health that president and CEO Jeron Ravin is eager to see.
“Sonja’s return to Swope Health is a big win for our organization,” Ravin said in the release. “Her experience with guiding other successful healthcare systems throughout the country will help strengthen our operations. This, along with enhanced focus on performance and process improvement under Brandi’s leadership, and targeted branding in new markets through Bridget’s team, makes me excited about what lies ahead.”
Headquartered in Kansas City, Swope Health is a provider of primary care, dental and mental health care services. Last year, Swope Health served more than 54,000 patients at 23 locations throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.
In August, Swope Health held a groundbreaking for its new 12-acre campus, Swope Health Village. The $126 million campus is designed to offer affordable housing, mental health services, geriatric services, community gardens and a community center.
