BJC Health System has named its new executive vice president and chief financial officer, Scott Hawig.

Hawig will be appointed to the role of executive vice president and CFO, effective September 15, according to a Wednesday release. Hawig will succeed Chuck Robb, who announced his retirement after nearly 35 years of service with BJC Health System and Saint Luke’s. Robb became CFO of the health system after completion of the merger between BJC and Saint Luke’s in January 2024

“Scott’s proven leadership in health care finance management will be instrumental in ensuring BJC continues to meet the needs of our communities and provide exceptional care,” BJC Health System CEO, Rich Liekweg, said in the release. “We are grateful to Chuck for the contribution he has made to the industry over nearly 35 years, including serving an essential role at BJC in the integration of Saint Luke’s Health System into BJC Health System in January 2024.”

As CFO, Hawig will oversee all finance-related functions of the health system, including financial management, planning, accounting, revenue cycle, supply chain, risk management, market network services, treasury services and investments.

Hawig brings with him his years of executive leadership to his new role at BJC. Most recently, he served as executive vice president, chief financial and administrative officer and treasurer for Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Froedtert is an 18-hospital academic health system and an affiliate with the Medical College of Wisconsin. He was with Froedtert for over 13.5 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Before his role at Froedtert, Hawig held leadership positions at Shands HealthCare at The University of Florida, Duke University Health System, and accounting firms Deloitte & Touche LLP and Arthur Anderson LLP.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a master’s degree in business administration from Duke University.
