I‘ve lived long enough to see an enormous number of interesting and occasionally unbelievable things but I have to admit, I’ve never seen anything like the coronavirus and its grip on mankind.
Working on the front lines of media we receive a massive repository of content, ranging from true to far-fetched and we’ve seen every level of self-interest PR in between. Never in modern history has a health concern reached Main Street world-wide as quickly and had such a profound effect as COVID-19.
In many ways it remains unreal what’s happening and every day seems to reach a new height with the pandemic spread-ing, and elevated levels of concern, reaction and precaution. We’re not an authority in this space but thankfully we’re aligned with a remarkable infrastructure of health-care professionals, researchers and emergency-management personnel as well as first-responders who are highly focused on health and public safety.
This morning I studied a news report of a Canadian scientist practicing in California who is sharing critical data with scientists throughout North America and world-wide. This act shows no sign of self-interest but rather an intelligent mission to engage and empower the brightest minds in this field to align, test and discover. It’s refreshing to see egos checked at the door for the common good of man. I’m sure this story will be embellished in a movie in the coming months. Let’s hope it has a happy ending.
We believe everyone needs to play a part in this fight against the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing may be one of the most swiftly adopted new phrases in history. Ingram’s is a micro small business in numbers but I’m proud our team punches above their weight as a regional media property and I believe our editors and team plays an important role within our region relevant to the coronavirus pandemic. We’ve spent decades developing trustworthy relationships and I believe our team is well-connected and poised with public and private executive leaders throughout Missouri, Kansas and beyond. Our mission is to serve as a trustworthy communications partner and to help businesses sustain this threat.
As nearly all other companies, we’re feeling significant challenges to cash-flow our business. For the first time in my career I can honestly confess that working harder and arguably even smarter won’t necessarily make a difference. Michelle and I are hurting for our team members and their families as well as citizens not only throughout our region but well beyond.
There has never been a time I can remember more important to set aside petty grievances and focus on the common good—especially in Washington. We genuinely are committed to and focused on the health and well-being of our community. We truly are in this situation together and we want you and your colleagues to know that we’ll do all we can to help by educating our valued print and rapidly growing digital on-line readers.
We’re building new and expanded communication networks with limited resources to align leaders in our region. This week we launch an eNews letter called “Coping With COVID” and we encourage you to sign up to receive this Healthcare eNews letter and Ingram’s Executive Insights. We’ll continue to serve to our best ability and to continue to align on behalf of the citizens of our region, Thank you for entrusting our team at Ingram’s and for supporting our efforts to serve the great states of Missouri and Kansas.
