YOUTH 4 KANSAS CITY (Y4KC) HOSTS NATIONAL WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION EXHIBITION GAME TO KICK OFF PARALYMPIC VICTORY TOUR

Youth 4 Kansas City (Y4KC), a grassroots group of young adults from the Kansas City Metro area working to better the community, announced that it would be the host of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) Paralympic Victory Tour in Kansas City.  Y4KC are high-school and college-aged students formed under the guiding principles of service and dedicated to giving our Kansas City community a chance to offer sport to children and people with disabilities. The impact this group of youth is making is both motivating and inspiring to everyone of all ages.

In its inaugural year, Y4KC has joined with Kansas City resident, Sarah Castle also President of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA), and a former Paralympian, to bring to our community the Kansas City NWBA Victory Tour, which will highlight the achievements of the Paralympic gold medals won by the 2016 U.S. Paralympic Men’s and Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Teams, while also raising awareness and funds for a local wheelchair sports program for Kansas City’s youth with disabilities.

An Exhibition Wheelchair Basketball Game hosted at the University of Missouri, Kansas City’s Swinney Center, which will feature U.S. Paralympic gold-medal winning wheelchair basketball athletes. The game will provide an opportunity for audiences to see some of the world’s best wheelchair basketball athletes including two-time Paralympic medalist and 2017 ESPN ESPY award-winner Steve Serio.
