- DAV and RecruitMilitary will produce a Veterans Job Fair on Thursday, September 13th at Fort Riley Conference Center from 11am to 3pm for veterans, military spouses, transitioning military personnel, active duty service members, National Guard members and Reserve members. Devry University will host a pre-event seminar for job candidates at 10am titled, “Move in the Right Direction: Putting Your Career Goals into Action.”
- Kansas-City employers are looking to fill hundreds of job openings, with veterans, transitioning military members and military spouses as their top hiring targets.
- Recently, President Trump signed a bill to provide expanded federal job opportunities to military spouses. This new bill is part of an executive action being taken to promote military spouse hiring across the federal government, and the nation at large. RecruitMilitary provides military spouses with access to hiring events and an online job board to connect with military-friendly employers who understand the lifestyle of a military family.
- The U.S. Department of Labor just released its July 2018 data with veteran unemployment at 3% – a historical low. This means that the employment of veterans is working for the civilian workforce for many reasons including: military skillsets that facilitate teamwork, structure, growth and adaptability; job candidates who quickly learn job skills and are prepared to promote faster than non-veteran peers; placement and retention of veterans in roles of leadership with embedded skills acquired through military training; etc.
- RecruitMilitary’s events serve not only as job fairs, but as opportunities for job candidates to network with fellow candidates and employers prior to transitioning from military service, while in another civilian job or as they consider the next step in their civilian careers.
- RecruitMilitary has held 14 events in Kansas City, drawing 3,576 attendees and 557 exhibitors.
