The 2017 Park University Golf Scramble, a four-person tournament that benefits the University’s athletic programs, is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 9, at The National Golf Club of Kansas City.
Golfers get on the course with a shotgun start at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. An awards program will be held immediately follow the completion of the tournament at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Tournament sponsorship fees are $175 per golfer or $700 per four-person team, and includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, box lunch on the course, driving range access prior to the event, on-course games and contests, and refreshments. In addition, a variety of sponsorship packages are available, ranging in price from $1,200 to $5,000. To register for the tournament or for more information, visit www.park.edu/golf.
Park University’s athletic programs are members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the American Midwest Conference. The University competes in 14 intercollegiate sports: men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, track and field, and volleyball; men’s baseball; and women’s softball. In addition to men’s golf making a return after being dormant for more than 30 years, the University has added seven developmental (junior varsity) athletic programs in men’s and women’s basketball, and soccer, men’s baseball, and women’s softball and volleyball.
In 2016-17, Park had 107 academic all-conference honorees, 38 all-conference performers, 11 all-Americans, two CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-Americans and nine CoSIDA academic all-district honorees. In addition, 36 Park student-athletes won the NAIA’s most prestigious academic award as Daktronics-NAIA scholar-athletes. The 2016-17 year was highlighted by eight Park athletic programs representing the University in NAIA national championship tournaments, including a men’s volleyball title in the NAIA National Invitational Tournament, and American Midwest Conference regular-season championships by the women’s cross country, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball programs. Three athletes were selected as conference players of the year in their respective sports, while Mike Talamantes (women’s volleyball), Ken Hefner (women’s soccer) and Brian Renshaw (women’s cross country) were named coaches of the year in the AMC.
