Singer, composer and actor Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums over three decades. With his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of Americana, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a way that breaks down barriers. Lovett’s eclectic performance style guarantees a compelling and captivating experience in his first-ever Helzberg Hall performance with his Small Band and your Kansas City Symphony. It will take place at the Kauffman Center from Jan. 18 through 20. The first two performances are at 8 p.m., and the final one is at 7 p.m. Tickets are not on sale yet.
