New-home listings in the Kansas City area plunged 35.7 percent year over year as of April 5, according to Zillow. That number exceeds the national average drop of 27.1 percent.
It is a strong contrast to March 1, when they rose 12.9 percent year over year.
The news follows a Realtor.com report earlier in the week that said the active residential home listing count declined 24.6 percent from last year, though prices were up 7.4 percent. Also earlier in the week, an S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller report said that in January home prices were up 3.1 percent year over year.
Meanwhile, new-home listings fell 30.4 percent in St. Louis, Zillow said.
