Whataburger sets fall 2021 opening for KC area locations

The popular southern burger chain has announced it will be opening four Kansas City locations this fall, with more to come, as it expands operations north. New locations will open on both sides of the state line and are expected to bring 700 new jobs to the region.

The first of four Whataburger locations will be opening this fall in the Kansas City area.

The burger chain announced they will be opening the four different locations and hiring 700 positions locally.

New locations include one in Lee’s Summit, Independence, Overland Park and Blue Springs.

According to a spokesperson representing the company, the likely location to open first would be either the Independence or Lee’s Summit location, as they have the first construction start dates.

Whataburger doesn’t plan on stopping there. More locations and community investments are in the company’s growth plans for 2022.

Founded more than 70 years ago, Whataburger now has more than 840 locations across 10 states.
