The median annual wage for registered nurses in Kansas and Missouri is nearing some of the lowest in the nation as of April 2023, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics analyzed all 50 states and the District of Columbia to find the median wage for an RN. The bureau found that, out of the more than 3 million RNs in the nation, the median hourly wage is $39.05 and the median annual wage equates to approximately $81,220.
Missouri placed in the No. 43 spot with an average annual wage of $71,460. Kansas ranked lower than its neighbor at No. 45. with an average annual wage of $66,460.
Kansas did have the highest number of RNs in nonmetropolitan areas totaling 8,050.
The highest-ranked state was California which had an annual wage of $132,660, while the lowest, South Dakota had an annual wage of just $62,920.
