Walgreens pharmacists walked off the job Monday in stores across the U.S. following similar walkouts involving CVS pharmacists.
Walgreens pharmacy workers are calling for more staff and better working conditions to safely fill prescriptions.
Results from a survey conducted last year by the American Pharmacists Association and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations could reveal indicators that point to the reasoning behind these walkouts from Walgreens and CVS workers, CNN reported Monday.
Pharmacy workers believe the new focus on vaccinations added to their workload, making it more difficult to properly fill prescriptions and provide customer care, according to the survey.
Walgreens locations in Arizona, Washington, Massachusetts and Oregon are but some of the stores that have experienced walkouts, however, no Kansas City area store walkouts have been reported.
Nearly 20 CVS closures across the Kansas City area took place roughly two weeks ago, according to the Kansas Pharmacists Association.
