Unemployment Claims Hit 30 Million in Six Weeks




There were 3.8 million additional filings for unemployment for the week ended April 25, bringing the total to about 30 million in the last six weeks, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. 

The four-week moving average for unemployment is just over five million, and the insured unemployment rate is currently 12.4 percent, the highest rates since numbers have been tracked.

Kansas had just over 28,000 claims during the week, a decrease from just over 30,000 the prior seven days. Missouri saw a decrease to just over 52,000 from nearly 60,000.
