The University of Missouri – Kansas City is planning for students to physically return to campus in the fall and also said that layoff notices to staff would start going out on May 1.
The move, announced during a virtual town hall, follows an announcement by the University of Missouri System that its schools are facing a budget shortfall of $180 million.
Despite administrators’ plans to come back in the fall, they are urging staff to be prepared for online teaching and being able to “pivot” if the situation changes in regards to social distancing due to COVID-19.
