The Business Committee for the Arts, a sect of the Americans for the Arts, honors 10 businesses annually for their extraordinary commitment to the arts by awarding the BCA 10 Awards, and this year, UMB Financial has been selected as one of these companies. According to the Americans for the Arts website, the companies recognized serve as examples to others in the way that they use art to enrich the workplace, education and the community.

“To be included in this elite group as an award recipient is extremely meaningful to me as this is more than a recognition for UMB,” Mariner Kemper, president and CEO, wrote in a UMB Blog post. “It’s also a credit to our associates and clients who consistently express and share their dedication to, and involvement in, the arts.”
UMB contributes to the arts in a number of ways, from the way the office is decorated, and the work UMB focuses on, down to the personal interests and involvement of the employees. The UMB Corporate Art Collection is one of the most respected collections of American art in the Midwest. Originally started, by R. Crosby Kemper, Jr., he hoped to give customers the experience of an art museum while visiting the office.
Additionally, because of UMB’s fine art management services, the company is able to serve artists and collectors. “More than 100 years ago, when UMB first opened its doors, my great-grandfather made a commitment to always support the arts community,” Kemper wrote.“ From being one of our company’s four community involvement emphasis areas to internal activities and client service offerings, arts are ingrained in everything we do at UMB.”
