UG Names Dr. Shelley Temple Kneuvean as CFO, 30 Years of Experience

Dr. Shelley Temple Kneuvean is the incoming CFO for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City.


The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City announced it has hired Dr. Shelley Temple Kneuvean as Chief Financial Officer, effective later in March.

Kneuvean brings over 30 years of executive experience in the UG to the role. Since 2014, she has worked with educational institutions within the metro area, including the Kansas City, Kansas Community College. She also served as the chief operating officer and deputy administrative officer for Jackson County, Mo. for nearly eight years, according to a release.

“I am excited to join the Unified Government as the chief financial officer,” Kneuvean said in the release. “and to return to my roots in local government and serving the community. I look forward to contributing to the financial sustainability and strategic direction for the Unified Government.”

Kneuvean also served as senior deputy director for Fannie Mae for three years. At Fannie Mae, Kneuvean worked on affordable housing and community development initiatives. Before that, she spent 10 years as an assistant city administrator in Lee’s Summit and worked for three years as the special projects coordinator with the Kansas City manager’s office.

Under her new role, Kneuvean will work with UG staff, County Administration, the Mayor’s Office and the UG Board of Commissioners to provide strategic financial direction focused on fiscal sustainability.

“Dr. Kneuvean brings a strong foundation and understanding of what it takes to manage a government in addition to her financial background,” County Administrator David Johnston said in the release. “Her diverse experience from Lee’s Summit to Jackson County and KCKCC greatly impressed the committee. With her enthusiasm about serving Wyandotte County, I am confident Dr. Kneuvean will bring a great spirit and leadership to our team.”
