U.S. small business revenue up



In the second week of March, small businesses across the U.S. surveyed by the Census Bureau say they experienced a 10.1 percent increase in revenue and sales. In the same survey, 40.1 percent of owners report they believe more than 6 months will pass before business returns to normal operations.

Responses pooled from small businesses nationwide by the U.S. Census Bureau show that in the second week of March, most businesses saw a healthy increase in revenue and sales.

Data was collected March 8 through March 14 for the Census Bureau’s Small Business Pulse Survey.

Roughly 10.1 percent of respondents in the survey said they experienced an increase in operating revenues, sales and/or receipts in the last week.

Another 7.7 percent of U.S. small businesses have experienced an increase in the total number of hours worked by paid employees in the last week. Roughly 7.1 percent of U.S. small businesses experienced an increase in the number of paid employees in the last week.

Despite the improvement, the same survey showed 40.1 percent of U.S. small businesses believe more than 6 months will pass before their business returns to its normal level of operations.
