Iowa-based Marshalltown Co., a tool supplier for brands such as Lowe’s and Home Depot, is investing $27 million in a distribution center in Wyandotte County.

The investment would create a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the Scannell Properties’ 435 Logistics Park near the northeast corner of 99th Street and Leavenworth Road. The facility will have warehouse and distribution space and will be a satellite location for the company.

“My administration continues to attract economic development projects that will create a significant number of new jobs,” Kansas Governor Laura Kelly said in a release. “Marshalltown’s investment in the state reflects the work we are doing to make Kansas the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

The completed facility is expected to create 40 new jobs in the Kansas City area.

We are honored to be a trusted partner on the construction of their state-of-the-art distribution center in Kansas City, Kansas,” Cam Duff, director of development at Scannell Properties, said in a release. “We now have over 3 million square feet of projects currently under construction in the Kansas City region, and we continue to commit to the area as a leading industrial real estate developer.”

Founded in 1890, Marshalltown sells more than 9,000 products for construction and home improvement applications. The privately held company has over 700 full-time employees and operates facilities in Marshalltown, Iowa; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Bushnell, Illinois and Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
