Sunflower Development Group Awaits Review for 300 Multifamily Unit Project

Kansas City-based Sunflower Development Group has filed plans to develop over 300 multifamily units in Lenexa called The Residences on Woodsonia.

Residences on Woodsonia won support from the city planning commission to rezone nearly 38 acres from an agricultural district to intermediate and high-density residential districts. The development project is located south of 83rd Street between Woodsonia Drive and Monticello Road.

The project includes 240 apartments in 10 three-story buildings on roughly 16 acres on the northern half of the property, outfitted with amenities such as a pool, clubhouse, sports courts and a large community lawn space.

Additionally, the project would see the construction of 62 townhomes in 11 four- and six-plex buildings on the other side of the new road being made for the project.

Sunflower Group is partnering with Kansas City-based architect Rosemann & Associates and Overland Park-based MKEC Engineering Inc. for the project.

The property is undeveloped agricultural land since it was last annexed into the city in 1986.

The preliminary site plan and request to rezone the property are scheduled for Dec. 19 at the next Lenexa City Council meeting.
