A study by WalletHub ranked the best and worst places to raise a family with Overland Park coming in at number two in the nation.
The study, Best & Worst Places to Raise a Family (2024), ranked 182 cities based on five dimensions including family fun, health & safety, education & child care, affordability and socio-economics.
The top five places to raise a family in 2024 are Fremont, California; Overland Park, Kansas; Irvine, California; Plano, Texas and Seattle, Washington.
Overland Park managed to climb the ranks thanks to its ranking of No. 1 in affordability and No. 3 in socio-economics. It has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, at 2.4% and one of the highest median family incomes, at over $140,000. Additionally, the city has the second-highest percentage of two-parent families in the country, at nearly 82% with the 10th-lowest separation and divorce rate in the country, according to the study.
