The Stormont Vail Health Campus in Manhattan, Kansas officially opened on Friday coupled with the announcement the facility will be further expanded to to accommodate a new health research center, according to Kansas State University.

An official ribbon cutting was held last week marking the official opening of the campus, however, the facility had been rolling out services in July. The 79,000-square-foot campus is located at 1325 Research Park Dr., off Manhattan Avenue at the east edge of the K-State campus.

In addition to Manhattan gaining more readily available health services, K-State officials also used the grand opening as a backdrop to announce the facility’s development is far from over. Stormont Vail and K-State will continue to partner on future research and support various programs in the form of a new dedicated research space inside Stormont Vail’s Manhattan building.

“K-State is conducting research in nearly all areas affecting human health and wellness, including health science and healthcare, infectious disease and vaccines, diseases and treatments, assistive technologies and therapeutics, fitness and nutrition, and more,” K-State Vice President for Research, David Rosowsky said. “The addition of this state-of-the-art research facility near our Manhattan campus will enhance current collaborations with Stormont Vail Health and further leverage the university’s commitment to providing excellent teaching, research, clinical care and service to Kansans.”

The new research space is expected to arrive later this year and will be provided by the C. Clyde and Midge Jones Family.
