Stormont Vail Health, based in Topeka, has released data on its COVID-19 care.
As of yesterday, the hospital system has tested just under 1,500 patients year to date. There have been 86 positive tests out of those, and currently six patients are hospitalized at Stormont facilities with the virus, down from 11 last week.
The hospital is pushing a message of transparency during the epidemic.
“We continue on an uncharted path of a world pandemic, now in our backyard,” according to a statement released by Robert Kenagy, Stormont’s chief executive officer. “”Our organization has had a long-standing belief that we are honored to be entrusted with the care of our patients and our community. COVID-19 does not change that belief. Trust is a powerful word. We do not take it lightly.”
