Stormont Vail Bringing Back Elective Surgeries

Stormont Vail Health, in Topeka, will re-open for elective surgeries on May 4 and its clinic in Emporia is set to open on that date as well.

Prior to the elective surgery, patients must be tested for COVID-19 two to three days prior to the procedure. Patients visiting clinics must wear face masks and must have their temperatures taken at the door upon arrival. 

Clinics will run at 50 percent of capacity until further notice.

Stormont is currently administering about 115 tests per day and has had identified 128 positive COVID-19 tests.
