Stimulus filing reopens for $500 child payment

Registration has reopened for U.S. parents eligible for the $500-per-child payment available under the March coronavirus stimulus but did not receive it after missing the window for filing.

U.S. parents and guardians eligible for the $500-per-child payment made available back in March will now have the opportunity to file again if they missed the original filing period.

The IRS has reopened registration for this specific stimulus for individuals who made $75,000 or less on their most recent tax return.

In March, the CARES Act allowed $1,200 per person for this income bracket along with $500 for every dependent under the age of 17.

Those eligible include those who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, Railroad Retirement or veteran’s benefits, and cannot have already received the stimulus for dependents.
