Before his passing, Steven Bresky was the third generation of the Bresky family to lead Seaboard Corp. after being appointed President, CEO and Chairman in 2006.
Bresky helped build up the Merriam-based company into a giant with extensive pork operations in the U.S. and shipping and energy operations internationally.
Seaboard became the Kansas City area’s largest public company after the merger of Sprint Corp. and T-Mobile US Inc. earlier this year. Seaboard’s ranking is based on revenue of $6.84 billion last year.
“His exceptional work ethic, long term commitment to Seaboard’s partners and businesses, mandate that the company produce quality products, and unwavering desire to always do the right thing were integral to the company’s success and made him truly one of a kind,” the company wrote in an announcement on their website.
In the announcement, the company noted that Steve’s children, Jack and Elizabeth, and nephew David Steinbrink, work for Seaboard and mentioned that the company will name a successor soon.
