A $12 million expansion has reached completion for St. Joseph, Mo. food manufacturer LifeLine Foods.
In the works since July 2019, plans included a new corn – or masa – mill, which opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony last week.
The company invested $6.5 million in new machinery and equipment and another $5.5 million in improvements to the existing structure, creating around 13 new jobs.
In completion, the new mill makes up 780,000 square-feet and will further help with the production of corn grits, corn meal, pre-gelatinized corn flour and masa.
“LifeLine is positioned for extensive growth for the next five years,” LifeLine Foods president and CEO Kevin Kelly said in a news release.
“Looking at and leaning into key consumer market trends has helped shape our growth strategy. The capital investments we made in our specialty mill a year ago, which produces Non-GMO Project Verified and USDA-certified organic products, as well as our now completed masa mill expansion, are evidence of listening to what the market is telling us for growth,” Kelly said.
