The University of Kansas Health System is using an AI tech that helps to record and document patients’ treatment plans, visitation and medical history.
The AI app is called Abridge and the health system is considering implementing the app system-wide, Fox4 News reported. The technology is being used by 10 physicians currently in the hospital in a beta phase.
The beta phase has a two-month duration and is soon to end, according to the publication. Following the beta, the health system will make its decision on if Abridge will become a new tool for doctors and staff you use system-wide.
According to the KU Health System, the app drastically cuts paperwork documentation from a typical five-hour time to just one hour.
Tony Jenkins, assistant director of I.T. Initiatives at KU Health System told Fox4 the hospital is “excited about the technology and the advancements it’s providing us.”
He also goes on to say the healthcare system must explore the ethical use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, however, when asked if AI is getting rid of people’s jobs, Jenkins said no.
Abridge first announces its partnership with the University of Kansas Health System in March.
