The University of Kansas Hospital and Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City are among seven facilities in the two-state area to earn a place on Newsweek’s 2023 rankings of the nation’s Top 150 cancer-care centers.
The rankings drew on results from a national survey, hospital quality metrics and patient experiences to determine the leading cancer hospitals in America.
Nationwide, KU placed No. 45, while Saint Luke’s came in at No. 110. The five other regional hospitals recognized were Barnes-Jewish in St. Louis at No. 15, St. Luke’s of Chesterfield at 113, Mercy Hospital in St. Louis at No. 13, University of Missouri Health Care in Columbia at No. 148, and Missouri Baptist Medical Center of Town and Country at No. 149.
Those rankings were produced before last month’s news that Barnes-Jewish and Saint Luke’s Health System of Kansas City would merge into a single health system serving the entire state of Missouri.
The University of Kansas Hospital announced last week it has acquired $143 Million for the development of a new state-of-the-art cancer center.
