The Kansas City Royals announced when they will confirm the location of the new Royals Stadium.

Kansas City Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman released a letter to fans via Twitter on Tuesday. The Royals will make a decision on which site—Jackson Country or Clay County—will be chosen for the new stadium location.

The letter from Sherman reads:

“In late September, we plan to announce which site will best fulfill our pledge to Kansas City to create 1) a powerful community impact, 2) generate sustainable economic activity in the county, city, and state, and 3) greater opportunity for the citizens of our region.”

Also, Sherman said an overview plan with renderings of the proposed ballpark district will be released in the next 30 days.

Key points from the letter:

  • The ballpark’s construction is expected to generate over 20,000 jobs, $1.4 billion in labor income and $2.8 billion in total economic output from construction and labor income during the 3-plus years it will take to build it.
  • The inaugural year of the new ballpark is expected to generate some $185 million more in regional economic output than The K does today.
  • The Royals ownership group will commit well in excess of $1 billion in private investment to help create transformational growth in the region.
