The Kansas City Royals have switched the team’s corporate home to Delaware, following the $1-billion purchase of the team by local businessman John Sherman.
Formerly called Kansas City Royals Baseball Corp. as a corporate entity that was based in Missouri, it is now called the Kansas City Royals Baseball Club Inc.
Though the move took place in November, it was first revealed recently in a lawsuit by minor league players against various teams, claiming that they are underpaid.
It is common for corporations to be based in Delaware because of its less stringent corporate laws.
