Riverside is hoping to begin construction of a new amphitheater as early as 2024 following its initial proposal at a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting last week.
The open-air designed amphitheater would seat 15,000 people with over 5,400 parking spaces. The project is being helmed by Live Nation Entertainment.
The location of the new amphitheater would be near Interstate 635 and Horizons Parkway across the street from the KC Current training facility.
Construction for the project could begin as early as 2024 and could feature its first live performance in the late spring of 2025, according to Riverside Mayor Kathy Rose, Fox 4 reported.
The goal of the project is to bring more people and traffic into the 6-square-mile city and prepare for the World Cup in 2026.
