Retail sales beat another unfortunate record in April, with sales falling a record 16.4 percent from the previous month.
The March decrease of 8.3 percent was already the biggest decline on record, according to data tracked by the U.S. Census Bureau since 1992.
On a year-over-year basis, by category, clothing and accessories were hit the hardest, dropping 89.3 percent from April 2019. Furniture sellers saw a 66.5 percent decline year over year, while electronics stores plunged 64.8 percent year over year.
