Missouri
The Missouri monthly jobs report, released Wednesday showed unemployment reaching 2.6 percent, a marginal change from last month’s report.
Total Missouri non-payroll jobs increased by 10,000 jobs in June 2023 while the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased by one-tenth of a percentage point to 2.6 percent, according to the Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development.
Missouri’s non-farm payroll employment was 2,991,900 in June 2023.
Private service-providing industries jobs increased by 9,200 jobs for the month in addition to government jobs increasing by 800.
Over the year, total payroll employment increased by 59,800 jobs from June 2022 to June 2023. In the past 12 months, the leisure and hospitality sector is leading in job growth by 17,600 jobs followed by professional and business services increasing by 10,200 jobs and manufacturing by 9,800 jobs.

Kansas
The report showed a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 2.8% in June. This is a decrease from 2.9% in May and an increase from 2.6% in June 2022, according to the Kansas Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Seasonally adjusted job estimates for Kansas indicate total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 1,000 from May. Private sector jobs increased by 300 over the month, while government increased by 700.
According to the department, Since June 2022 Kansas’ seasonally adjusted total nonfarm jobs have increased by 31,900. This change is due to an increase of 27,200 private sector jobs and an increase of 4,700 government jobs.
