Nearly a dozen hospitals in the Kansas City region have received the highest grades assigned for overall patient safety outcomes in a report issued this week by the non-profit Leapfrog Group.
In the Kansas City area, Missouri hospitals receiving a grade of “A” from Leapfrog included: Saint Luke’s Health System’s main Hospital and its Lee’s Summit facility, Centerpoint Medical Center, Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Liberty Hospital and St. Joseph Medical Center.
On the Kansas side, A-grades went to: AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Providence Medical Center and Saint Luke’s South Hospital.
Among the grading criteria used in the assessment are hospital infection-control metrics and processes, protocols and other standards to keep patients safe, and overall support for strong care teams. Those processes involve not just infection control, but accidents, errors in care administration and injuries.
