"Our clients have grown to expect that from us, and we have been able to help them navigate whatever comes their way."

Q: What do you consider your organization’s most significant achievement or highlight over the past year?

A: In times of great change, it is so important to be in a position of strength. Our clients have grown to expect that from us, and we have been able to help them navigate whatever comes their way.

Q: What do you see as the odds of a recession between now and the end of 2024?

A: We still anticipate some pullback in mid-2024. Right now, we see that being milder than what was predicted a few months ago.

Q: We have the new KCI up and running; what do you believe is the Next Big Thing we should pursue in the Kansas City region?

A: Improving our transportation systems to all key areas of the city will bring our city closer together and allow all people access to jobs that will be meaningful to their families’ success for years to come. I was fortunate to be on a flight out on the last day at the old terminal and fly back into the new terminal the following day. What a great impression! I have had multiple clients and associates come into Kansas City since and they are just blown away. It has put the image of Kansas City on a whole new path we can leverage.

Q: Did you have a key mentor on your way to leadership? If so, who was it, and what was the most important thing you learned from him or her?

A: Mark Jorgenson hired me over 23 years ago. As an active person committed to the success of the region, Mark said to look for opportunities that align with your passion and that the family can enjoy too. That has been a great formula for success it keeps the right focus on work-life balance and teaches young people the importance of giving back.

Q: What’s first on your reading list each morning?

A: I always want to start out with quiet time in prayer or reading the bible. It has the answers to everything. I have not had a challenge or topic that I could not rely on God giving me the right answer.

Q: What is the most essential skill you look for in leadership-level hires?

A: I look for if they have been successful through growing others and if they are good at creating gaps that allow others to take a step forward.

Q: If you could start a charity, what would the mission be?

A: I have a passion for radio ministries. They reach so many people in countries that cannot participate in any other way.

Q: Over the coming year, do you plan to add/reduce staff or hold at current levels?

A: We are consistently looking for people. With technology ever advancing, it is always pushing us to hire people with new skills.
