The Port Authority of Kansas City has approved a $20 million tax incentive for JE Dunn’s plans to renovate its downtown headquarters.
On December 9, Port KC commissioners approved support for JE Dunn’s renovation project at 1001 Locust St. The project would see improvements for the 187,284-square-foot offices as well as new furniture and fixtures.
On Monday, Port KC passed taxable revenue bonds of $20 million for the construction company’s renovation project. The 10-year bonds would provide a 50% personal property tax exemption and sales tax exemption for the project.
JE Dunn plans to use $14 million on finishes and improvements to the infrastructure of the space while the other $6 million would go toward new furniture, fixtures and technology. In addition to the improvements to the building, the project will also help facilitate 150 new jobs which pay an average of $126,000 a year.
The project improvements are expected to be finished by fall 2025.
