Plans deflate for 11-phase mixed-use project in Lenexa



A proposed large housing and commercial space development project in Lenexa, Kan. has come to a halt after developers withdrew recent plans. Visions for the project have not entirely evaporated however, developers stating they will resubmit another plan.

Plans have come to a temporary halt for a large, 11-phase proposed development project in Lenexa, Kan.

Developers for the Watercrest South project withdrew recent plans that would have added 1,239 housing units as well as commercial space on 187.8 acres.

In a letter to the city dated Jan. 13, 2021, developers did say they would resubmit plans to go before the Lenexa City Council. The project has gone before the council twice prior to being withdrawn.

A resubmission will including applications for rezoning and site plans. One portion of the project named Copper Creek would have covered plans to build apartments and townhomes, around 688 apartments, 14 building and 44 townhomes in total.
