Kansas City financial tech company PayIt, which provides payment-processing services for state and local governments, has reached an agreement to acquire a Nashville company that delivers similar services for licensing and permitting functions of recreational activities like hunting and fishing.
Upon completion of the deal for Strategic Sports Solutions, PayIt platforms will reach more than 100 million people in North America.
The addition of outdoor recreation solutions will increase the Kansas City company’s reach in services such as property tax, court and motor-vehicle payment processing. The sale is expected to close by the end of this month.
“This strategic acquisition affirms the new standard for GovTech: solutions that dramatically improve mission achievement and modernize the experience for residents,” said John Thomson, PayIt founder and CEO, in announcing the deal.
S3’s platforms help state conservation agencies scale their reach with outdoors enthusiasts, with additional solutions for licenses and permits on boats and recreational vehicles, event management and specialty permits.
PayIt’s growth has earned it a spot on the GovTech 100 for seven consecutive years.
