Park University Taps New VP, Enrollment and Student Services

Park University has appointed Dr. Paul Orscheln to the role of vice president of enrollment and student services.

He will assume the role of his new position effective immediately, according to a Monday release. Orscheln will provide strategic and operational leadership and spearhead services for enrollment, international admission, student financials, marketing, campus center operations and athletics.

Orscheln will be mainly directing recruitment efforts for the institution. He will also be responsible for addressing issues of access, affordability and college readiness for students enrolling at the university.

He brings 26 years of experience in student success and enrollment to the role. For the last 13 years, Orscheln has been serving at the executive level. Before joining Park University, he served as vice president of enrollment services and student affairs at Westminster College in Fulton, MO., for 5.5 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Additionally, he has served as associate vice president of enrollment management and student retention at Missouri Western State University for over 3 years; vice president of student services and enrollment management at Colorado State University-Pueblo for 2.5 years and associate vice president for enrollment management at Northern Kentucky University for nearly two years.

Orscheln earned his Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership and policy analysis from the University of Missouri–Columbia. He received a Master of Science degree in exercise and sport science, and a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education/exercise science, both from the University of Central Missouri.

Last week, Park University president Shane Smeed announced he would be the next president of Utah Tech University by the Utah Board of Higher Education. Shane has been president of Park University since November 2020. While no start date has been determined for his transition, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees will discuss his move during the March 6 meeting.
